Higher Education Opportunity Act Mandates Instant Notification

Last month, Congress signed into law an act that requires IT departments to instantly notify campus communities of emergency situations.

To comply with the Higher Education Opportunity Act of 2008 (H.R. 4137), many universities are implementing OnAlertâ„¢ mass notification systems. OnAlert uses LED signs to display informational or directional messages that lead people to safety.

The OnAlert mass notification system is secure and poses no risk to existing infrastructure. When no emergency messages are needed, the signs can display event announcements, traffic alerts, or simply the current date and time.
