Understanding the New Emergency Notification Provisions of the HEOA

On October 29, 2009, the Department of Education released amended rules to the Higher Education Opportunity Act (HEOA), and many new changes have been put in place.  Most of these rules take effect immediately and colleges and universities in the U.S. are required to begin submitting required reports on October 1, 2010.  Some of the primary changes affect emergency notification provisions and the Annual Security and Fire Safety Reports.

In order to assist institutions across the country with understanding the emergency notification changes, Inova Solutions has boiled down all the complex legislation about mass notification into an easy-to-read eBook.  Inova’s Higher Education Opportunity Act eBook puts all the new legislation into perspective and covers:

  • What exactly the reports are
  • Who the reports need to go to
  • How the reports should be distributed
  • When the reports should be submitted
  • What information must be included
  • Important considerations when planning an emergency notification system

Inova’s goal for this eBook is for it to be a resource for colleges and universities across the nation when planning and reporting on emergency management and campus safety policies and statistics.

We encourage you to share our HEOA resources with anyone who might find them helpful.  We’d also love to hear your comments and feedback so tweet with us on Twitter, e-mail us at info@inovasolutions.com or find more information on our emergency notification website.
